This chapter presents you with an overview of the Reporting and Printing Subsystem. In particular, you learn some powerful techniques for making your reporting and printing code effective and reusable in the form of a subsystem. You also get guidelines for planning cyclical and ad hoc reporting tasks. You learn about the three more readily available forms of printing and reporting available in Visual Basic: Crystal Reports, Access, and the Rich Text Box. This lesson presents you with helpful classes that should prove immediately beneficial in making your applications flexible when you need to dynamically choose a reporting option for changing user reporting needs. Perhaps the best feature of this lesson is that if you have a favorite reporting or printing control or body of code, you can easily implement it in this subsystem by simply following the pattern of class associations (methods and properties accessed by classes) in the lesson's sample code. |
